When I entered College, I didn't know what my major was going to be. I've looked at a lot of majors, and a few stood out to me. Such as Digital Media Arts because I like to play video games just for the animation and the dope graphics. Plus I like to be on Facebook a lot, and I thought it will be cool for me to actually gain the knowledge on what it takes to make a website like that. Digital Media Arts will beneifical for me as a career goal because nowadays this world is base on computer knowledge.
Also in 2010 I had exprience with blogging and designing websites on networking sites such as Facebook, Myspace and Twitter for a magazine called "Hip Hop Weekly". http://www.hiphopweekly.com/ I loved that job because I was in control, and I enjoyed doing what I was doing. The influence I had on selecting my major was caused by my last experience with working for Hip Hop Weekly. Fully learning my major will let me gain the proper knowledge to not only design websites for other successful companies, but to also one day have my own successful established business with my DMA degree.
There for my career goal is simple and plain. I am going to break down the next five years of my life. The first 2 years will be learning about my DMA major, and graduating with my degree. During those 2 years of learning I will intern with a magazine of my choice to use the knowledge I have gained in the classroom, and apply it in the real world. In my third year I plan on being employed at the magazine of my choice. The next 2 years I plan on still working with the magazine of my choice, and eventually being the head person in charge in mentoring other interns of my field for the magazine I had once interned for. Knowing in five years I will be faced with a lot of distractions that can sidetrack me from achieving my goals, but I am completely committed on never losing focus. Wish me luck!

You're In The Big Time Now/Where To Find The Help You Need Blog # 1
Hello Digital Media Arts students. My name is Brandon, and I welcome you to read my blog thoughts about Chapters 1 & 2.
YOU'RE IN THE BIG TIME NOW:
So my goals to succeed in TCI is clear. I will make life adjustments by balancing/changing my friends & having self discipline to wake up on time, hand in my assignments etc. I know that this process won't be easy and there will be things to distract me from my goals, but I am focused. Wish me luck!!
YOU'RE IN THE BIG TIME NOW:
Changing Your Circle Of Friends |
When I applied for TCI I knew coming from High School that College will be another chapter in my life for me to open & close. I knew that it will take a lot of patience & responsibility for me to come to school on time, to hand in assignments, and to study when need to. College for me is a greater respondsibility because their is no teacher to hold your hand to tell you when to do assignments, projects, exams etc. In my case I have no parents to tell me when or how to do assignments. So it takes my respondsibility & self discipline to make sure I have my work ready & on time. Being a man with low patience I knew coming into TCI college that was something i needed to work on. Trying to keep up with the fast pace learning, different classes & instructions that I will be taught to learn on a day to day basis I had to make a few life adjustments. Which includes me setting my alarm clock every morning to 7AM, programming upcoming assignments to my Blackberry phone, and changing my social circle and/or balancing my circle. I feel changing or balancing your social circle is beneficial to your life adjustments because friends could distract you from achieving your goals you had set when starting your college journey. I feel my circle of friends should represent who I am and should have positive advice when in need of help. Speaking of help....
WHERE TO FIND THE HELP YOU NEED:
DON'T BR AFRAID TO ASK QUESTIONS |
I knew that coming into TCI I wouldn't be a know it all. I live by the motto "A closed mouth don't get fed." So inorder to get the help I will need in certain areas, it doesn't hurt to ask questions. Being that I have a inquisitive mind, asking a few questions won't be a problem for me. Asking questions also gives me a better understanding of my assignment. Some students might think the question they have is stupid or dumb, and might hold back on asking, but in all reality that question you hold back on could be a FAQ (Frequently Asked Question). And that could help you and others that are in the class have a better understanding of the assignment, topic etc. It's also good to know that in TCI you have advisors, professors, workers even students there for you to answer every and any question you may have. The other good thing is that professors give out their email addresses so that a student can contact them whenever they have one of those stupid questions they are afraid to ask.
So my goals to succeed in TCI is clear. I will make life adjustments by balancing/changing my friends & having self discipline to wake up on time, hand in my assignments etc. I know that this process won't be easy and there will be things to distract me from my goals, but I am focused. Wish me luck!!
